STADE
aka Pierre Audetat
Biographical Profile Pierre Audetat was born in Lausanne,
Switzerland in 1968, of Egypto-American and Swiss heritage.
He began studying the piano at the age of eleven, with
Gérard LeCoat, who continued to teach him composition
and improvisation through the age of eighteen.
Pierre is continuing his studies at the EJMA (School
of Jazz of Lausanne.) In 1987, Pierre worked with saxophonist
Moreno Helmy in the quartet Urgent Feel. It was then
that he began develop his techniques of sampling. Urgent
Feel went on to produce two albums, Power Jazz (1991),
and XL (1992), both on the label Planisphere. Urgent
Feel has performed at many festivals, including Willisau,
Nyon Paleo, and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
During this period (as keyboardist, arranger, and programmer),
he began studio session collaborations with ROLLERCONE,MANDRAX,SENS
UNIK,BENJAMIN. ,
among many others, and continues the practice to this
day.
In 1991 Pierre joined with rappers, MC NYA, NDAGIJE,
and DJ GOO, to form the group Silent Majority.

Their
sound was a blend of instrumental, sampler, rap, and rhythm.
In addition to Pierre, Silent Majority consisted of Marcello
Giuliani (Bass), Christophe Calpini (Drums), and regular
guest Erik Truffaz (Trumpet).
Silent Majority produced three albums: La Majorite Silenieuse
(1994), Curfew (1995, Unik Records), and Night Bloomers
(TBA Records).
Silent Majority has appeared in concert at numerous venues
including: Bataclan, Elisée Montmartre (Paris), Printemps
de Bourges, Transmusicales de Rennes, New Music Seminar
(New York), Jazz Club Café (London), and The Montreux
Jazz Festival.
In 1994, Pierre collaborated (as pianist and composer)
with Piano Seven. He worked with François Lindemann, Oliver
Rogg, Michel Bastet, Gasper Glaus, Pierre-Luc Vallet,
Brigitte Meyer, Pascal Auberson, François Guye, Jacques
Bolognesi, and Trilok Gurtu. Among many concerts, he has
performed at The Opera of Cairo, The Opera of Zurich,
and the Cirque d'Hivers (Paris).
Pierre began his solo project in 1995, under the nom de
plume Stade.
He appears on many compilations, including: Five Stars
1 and 2, Galactik Sound Lab 1, Free Zones 4 (Belgium),
Shadow Records (New York), and HiFi Jazz (London).
During 1997, he played regularly with The Galactik Sound
Lab Collective at the Blue Note Club (London) in various
formations as Rollercone and MGM Trio. (comprised of Marcello
Giuliani, Erik Truffaz, DJ Goo, MC NYA, Laurent Poget,
and Marc Erbetta.)
In 1998, he began a new collaboration with Pierre Yves
Borgeaud (director of film, video, and music documentaries
for ECM), which resulted in a series of multimedia performances.
This included My Body Electric, at the Cully Jazz Festival
where the duet was joined by the Norwegian trumpetist,
Niels-Petter Molvaer.
Most recently, in April of 2000, Stade (alias Pierre Audetat)
produced 'Miscellaneous', an ep on the Synchrovision label.
Stade's album will be released by 2002 on Synchrovision
records.

& compositeur, d'origine égypto-américaine,né à Lausanne
en 1968.
Vit aujourd'hui à Lausanne.
.Il étudie
le piano dès l'âge de onze ans avec GERARD LECOAT qui
lui enseignera également la composition et l'improvisation
jusqu'à l'age de18 ans. Il poursuivra ses études à la
SWISS JAZZ SCHOOL à Bern puis à l'EJMA. C'est à l'intérieur
de URGENT FEEL, quartet fondé à la fin des années "1980"
par le saxophoniste MORENO HELMY que PIERRE AUDETAT
commence à utiliser les techniques d'échantionage (sampling).
URGENT FEEL réalise deux albums ,POWER JAZZ/1991 et
XL/1992 tout deux sur le label PLANISPHARE.Le groupe
se produit sur scène entre autres au FESTIVAL DE WiILLISAU,au
PALEO FESTIVAL DE NYON,au MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL.
Nombreuses séances de studio comme pianiste,clavièriste,arrangeur,programmeur.
Collabore notament avec ROLLERCONE,MANDRAX,SENS UNIK,BENJAMIN.
En 1991,il rencontre les rappeurs MC
NYA, NDAGIJE et DJ GOO .Ensemble ils fondent SILENT
MAJORITY groupe qui fusionne instrumental, sampler et
rap avec une section rythmique composée de MARCELLO
GIULIANI à la bass et CHRISTOPHE CALPINI à la batterie,
et comme invité régulier le trompetiste ERIK TRUFFAZ.Le
groupe réalisera trois albums LA MAJORITE SILENCIEUSE
1994, CURFEW 1995 paru sur UNIK RECORDS et NIGHT BLOOMERS
paru sur TBA RECORDS. SILENT MAJORITY se produira en
concert notament au BATACLAN,à ELISEE MONTMARTRE à Paris,PRINTEMPS
DE BOURGES,TRANSMUSICALES DE RENNES,au NEW MUSIC SEMINAR
à New York,JAZZ CAFE CLUB à Londre,MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL
etc.
PIERRE AUDETAT collabore comme pianiste et comme compositeur
dé 1994 dans PIANO SEVEN. Il aura ainsi l'occasion de
travailler avec FRANCOIS LINDEMANN, OLLIVIER ROGG, MICHEL
BASTET, GASPAR GLAUS, PIERRE-LUC VALLET ainsi que BRIGITTE
MEYER, PASCAL AUBERSON, FRANCOIS GUYE, JACQUES BOLOGNESI,
TRILOK GURTU. De nombreux concerts notament à L'OPERA
DU CAIRE,à L'OPERA DE ZURICH,au CIRQUE D'HIVERS à Paris.
C'est vers 1995 que PIERRE AUDETAT débute son projet
solo sous le pseudonyme STADE.Il apparait sur divers
compilations dont FIVE STARS 1 et 2,GALACTIK SOUND LAB
1, FREE ZONE 4 (Belgique), SHADOW RECORDS(New York),
HIFI JAZZ (Londre). Il joue durant l'année 1997 régulierement
au sein du collectif GALACTIK SOUND LAB au BLUE NOTE
CLUB à Londre dans divers formules notament avec ROLLERCONE,
MGM TRIO alias MARCELLO GIULIANI, ERIK TRUFFAZ, DJ GOO,
MC NYA, MARC ERBETTA. En 1998 il débute une nouvelle
collaboration avec le vidéaste PIERRE YVES BORGEAUD
(réalisateur de films musicaux documentaires et de plusieurs
clips pour le label ECM).Il en résulte un spéctacles
audiovisuels intitulé: MY BODY ELECTRIC rejoint par
le trompetiste norvégien NIELS-PETTER MOLVAER. Ils se
sont produits au CULLY JAZZ FESTIVAL.
C'est en avril 2000 que STADE alias PIERRE AUDETAT sort
un premier ep, MISCELANEOUS sur le label SYNCHROVISION
, ainsi que sur la compilation SYNCHROFILES 1.0. Janv
2001. Il se produit sur scène dans plusieurs formules;
solo,trio,et quintet avec ALBERTO MALO/drums, PATRICE
MORET/Bass, CHRISTOPHE TURCHI/sax, CYRIL REGAMEY/perc.
Début 2001 PIERRE AUDETAT remixe un morceaux pour le
trompetiste ERIK TRUFFAZ, sur L'album "REVISITE" parut
chez BLUE NOTE. En juillet 2001 il enregistre en trio,un
nouveau projet avec le violoniste MARK FELDMAN et le
guitariste BRAD SHEPIK.
Pour 2002 Pierre Audetat alias STADE, prépare la sortie
de son premier album cd, chez SYNCHROVISION Records.
