ALOAN
is the name of Alain Frey's trip-hop project. This first
composition "Palmyr" is an electronic trip through urban
and oriental sounds upon which four different singers
have each added their personal touches. On stage, the
group consists of five musicians (drums + samples, bass,
Fender Rhodes, turntables + machines) and three singers.
Music composed, arranged, mixed and produced by Alain
Frey. Text and voices: Jamila, Julien Chagnon, Granite,

Drummer/Composer Alain
Frey was born on the 1st of July 1972.
Since 1988 he has been playing drums with several different
Swiss groups such as Wild Mango, The Swiss Cheese Connection,
David French, Scotti-Ribordi, Zem Zem, Sumo, PPA+, Demilliac
etc. With these groups he has played

great number of concerts in Switzerland, France
and Holland (Vernier sur Rock, Montreux, Bateaufare,
Amsterdam Festival, Arena de Geneve, Caribana
Festival opening spots for FFF, More Kante, JTQ,
M Peoplem, Papa Wemba, Finlay Quaye, TV and radio
appearances).
He
has also played with Vincent Hanni, Patrice Moret,
John McKenzie, Azania Steady, Florence Chitacumbi,
Christophe Chambet, Bill Holden, JJ Pedretti,
Lucky Peterson's band, Gregoire Maret etc.
In 1998, with Ernie Odoom, he co-founded the musicians'
collective "PPA+". The collective includes a DJ,
horn section, rythm section and singers, and a
good twenty-or-so musicians have participated
in their many concerts and shows over the years.
He also creates compositions and sound tracks
for the theatre (1999: Le Visiteur, 2001: Le Souper,
2002: Andre Le Magnifique, and several other projects
to follow).
He currently accompanies the singer Demilliac
on his tours and on his record "Peace of a Cruising
Rythm" and is currently involved in the preparation
of a second album.

Sur disque,Aloan (Alain Frey selon son passeport)
emplie tout seul dans les sonorités rêveuses face
à un écran d'ordinateur. Le babil obssedant d'une
clarinette basse,les vibrations sans fin d'une
corde de sitar et les lamentation d'une trompette
bochée roulent ensemble sur un tapis de percussions
classieusement alanguies,
Deux morceaux inclus dans la première compil du
label de dj Goo (Synchrofiles 01),annoncent un
album à venir le printemps prochain. Sur scène
,cette musique-là fouette sana doute plus fort.
Alain s'installe à la batterie et comandes ses
samples à la baguette.Ses coéquipiers,issus du
bouillon de culture de l'électronique Jazzy genevoise,prennent
le piano (Alex Rodriguez), la basse (michèle de
freebase corp.) et le sampleur (Sébastien Von
Roth, repéré sur scène avec MOBILE IN MOTION).
Au micro Jamila passe des sinuosités arabes aux
courbes soul. Dj Goo prendra les platines en deuxième
